Statistically, over 100,000 people in the UK are admitted to hospital every year with some
form of head injury. Whilst a lot of those admissions are thankfully only for minor head
injury, many are for serious head injury. Falls are one of the leading causes of serious
head injury and the elderly are particularly susceptible to suffering serious head injury
following a fall.
Older people living on their own or in nursing homes are prone to suffering a serious head
injury in a fall. Whilst many falls are simply accidents for which no one is to blame, a large
number are preventable and arise from substandard, negligent care. With a few simple steps
however, the chances of an elderly person slipping, tripping and falling can be reduced. For
example, ensuring that there is adequate lighting in the home generally and particularly on
walkways. Moving furniture or other obstacles out of walking pathways and, of course,
should elderly people need assistance with mobility or daily activities then they must
be provided with adequate care.
At HeadinjuryUK we have the expertise required to successfully pursue a serious head
Injury claim suffered following a negligent fall. So if you or someone you know has
suffered a head injury following a fall that could have been prevented, then please contact
Andy Shaw of HeadinjuryUK to discuss how we can help.
We know that we have been extremely fortunate to have had such a consummate PI lawyer in Andy acting on our behalf but we have also been blessed by having had his support, trust, friendship and loyalty throughout. We cannot ever thank him enough.
The compensation Nicola has received has helped her move from a tiny council flat into a massive bungalow which has been specifically adapted. It has enabled her to have a better life.
If it was not for the help of my solicitor I don't know where I would have been today. He provided a great deal of emotional support and secured compensation at various stages from the insurance company to fund my treatment and allow me to live. He was there from start to finish.
Higgs & Sons acted for us for 5 years until our daughters claim for personal injuries was finally settled. Ian remains a trustee of our daughters trust fund and we now look upon him as a friend.
