Head Injury and Paralysis Following Fall

Anthony King, a bricklayer, who was left permanently paralysed following a fall at work from a high platform, has received substantial compensation.

He suffered severe skull fractures when he fell through the temporary floor of a building platform at a building site in Swindon.  He went on to develop septicaemia that spread into his spine despite repeated surgery and became T9 paraplegic.  Left with reduced mobility, he claimed compensation from his employer and the site contractor.  The High Court has recently approved a lump sum settlement of £1.4 million, plus annual index-linked payments.

Health & Safety

At a time when the Prime Minister wants to “wage war against the excessive health and safety culture” as the government reviews health and safety regulation, we must not forget tragic accidents such as Mr. King’s.  His accident is a reminder that our health and safety laws are there to protect the lives and health of workers and that without them, many more people would be injured or even killed.

Head Injury UK

At Head Injury UK we help obtain rehabilitation and compensation for people who have been seriously injured, by employers failing to apply health and safety.  We also act for families who have lost a loved one in a works accident.  Only when you see the consequences of health and safety failing, do you appreciate the true value of when it works.  We only hope that the government will keep this in mind when considering any reform.  If you or someone close to you has been injured in an accident at work, then please contact Andy Shaw to discuss how we can help you.

What our clients say

We know that we have been extremely fortunate to have had such a consummate PI lawyer in Andy acting on our behalf but we have also been blessed by having had his support, trust, friendship and loyalty throughout. We cannot ever thank him enough.

The compensation Nicola has received has helped her move from a tiny council flat into a massive bungalow which has been specifically adapted. It has enabled her to have a better life.

If it was not for the help of my solicitor I don't know where I would have been today. He provided a great deal of emotional support and secured compensation at various stages from the insurance company to fund my treatment and allow me to live. He was there from start to finish.

Higgs & Sons acted for us for 5 years until our daughters claim for personal injuries was finally settled. Ian remains a trustee of our daughters trust fund and we now look upon him as a friend.
